Welcome to ASURE Central Gold Motel, Central Otago.  We are delighted you have chosen us for your accommodation in Cromwell and hope you have a wonderful stay.  For any assistance during your stay, please contact us on 03 445 4700.

Your Hosts are Rebecca & Mike Johnston

We purchased the Motel in April 2025 after moving to Cromwell from Te Anau in 2023. Mike continues his job as a Production and Design Supervisor for Electronet while Rebecca runs the Motel full time.

Originally from North Otago, we moved to Te Anau in 2005 where we raised our 2 sons. Mike worked in the Power Industry and Rebecca worked in Tourism and as a Teacher Aide at the local College before purchasing and running Blue Ridge Bed & Breakfast in 2016 until the move to Cromwell.

We love everything Cromwell has to offer from the bike trails, lake, rivers and wineries to the heritage and location.

This Motel has been a member of the ASURE group since 2010 and we are looking forward to the support and friendships that come with being part of the group. The marketing opportunities give us extensive exposure and the annual NZ conference and SI Regional conferences are a great way to meet and learn from other moteliers.

The ASURE Loyalty Programme is very well received by guests – grab your card and start collecting stamps today! More details can be found in the ASURE booklets in your room, or ask at Reception.

We extend a warm welcome to you and hope your stay is enjoyable.

Sustainability

Here at ASURE Central Gold Motel, we work hard to support our beautiful country by undertaking practical sustainable actions. Many of these you will not see, but some you may notice – all make a difference to the environment we live in.  Here are some of practices our members have in place:

  • Buy from local sources, which, both support employment in our community and reduces the distance our goods must travel to reach us.
  • We work with suppliers that can provide our group with environmentally sustainable products and have joined the Dream Green Initiative from Vendella, our provider of hospitality products.
  • Donate supplementary products and excess bedding and furniture.
  • LED light bulbs are installed on our premises.
  • Temperature controlled heating and cooling
  • Energy-efficient timers are installed on our exterior road-sign.
  • Reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by separating it for recycling.
  • Recycle and or repurpose product containers.
  • Soap & hair wash dispensers installed in all bathrooms to minimize waste.
  • Train our committed staff to consistently carry out our environmental practices.
  • Our ASURE members are actively involved in our local community and provide sponsorship to many community groups.

We trust you are enjoying our country and hope you will help us reduce our impact on it by considering the following things:

  • When not needed or when leaving a room, turn off lights or equipment such as heat pumps.
  • Turns off taps tightly when not directly using water.
  • Please utilise the Recycling bin provided in your room, our staff will sort and place in the appropriate bins.
  • Didymo and other aquatic pests could squeeze the life out of our country’s most precious rivers and lakes. You can help to protect your favourite waterways if you always Check, Clean, Dry any gear that comes into contact with the water, between every waterway, every time.

We appreciate your support in helping sustain our lovely country.
